Panic Attack - Am I Going Crazy?
We are so convinced that we are in control of our selves for 99% of the time that when we suffer a panic or anxiety attack, especially for the first time, it quite literally causes more panic and fear.
You ask your self am I going crazy? Or What is happening to me?
From bitter experience of panic and anxiety attacks I know just how debilitating they can be. But in addition to the actual attack there is the after mouth of doubt, worry, anxiety and panic. This is the fuel for the next attack and left unattended it will build until you are overwhelmed again.
So how do you manage these feelings? A good starting point is to identify and recognise the mental symptoms of panic and anxiety attacks; by seeing them for what they are you can tackle you fear head on.
So what are the common mental symptoms expanded by panic attack suffers?
- Intense and/or frightening realizations of reality
- Loss of the ability to react logically to stimuli
- Loss of cognitive ability in general
- Racing thoughts (often based on fear; a repeated or illogical worry)
- Loud internal dialogue
- Feeling of impending doom
- Feeling of “going crazy”
- Extreme worried feeling
- Feeling of extreme nervousness
- Feeling out of control
- Feeling of being threatened by something (often when nothing “threatening” is present)
- Feeling of anti-social behaviour from other people
- Feeling of excitement
- Feeling of nagging from other people
- Vision is somewhat impaired (eyes may feel like they are shaking.)
- Feeling like you are going to die any second
Remember the old saying Nothing to fear but fear itself? Panic attack suffers know how true this is. Buy understanding the symptoms and identifying the feeling that go with them you are able to begin to rationalise your fear and manage your attacks.
While many doctors simply proscribe drugs to manage panic and anxiety attacks there are a number of natural drug free ways of managing and curing your attacks through simple to use methods.
